Choosing Continuing Education That Helps You Grow
In-page navigation
Caregivers in many different settings are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education each year. With everything on our plates, sometimes it is easier to just take the first trainings we see to get them out of the way.
This year I encourage you to be thoughtful about the trainings you take. Ask yourself which topics would help you be the best caregiver to you clients. Is there a topic or information about certain conditions and behaviors that would make your job easier? Is there a new technology, tool, or a task you want to learn more about? If you are struggling with self-care, would topics on wellness help you take better care of yourself? If you have coworker relationships that are frustrating or want to learn how to understand clients from different cultures, trainings that focus on those issues, might be a great way to use your training time.
Think of training as a tool that can help you grow personally and professionally. Take a few minutes to search all the trainings and topics that are available to you based on your employer and training agreements, make selections based on what is meaningful and helpful to you.
